Biographical Statement

Miss Louise Carolyn Johnson was born June 10, 1895 in Davis Junction, IL to John P. and Mary C. Johnson (both from Sweden). She graduated from Wheaton College in 1925 with a B.A. in Literature. She was Corresponding Secretary and Sergeant at Arms for the Aelioian Literary Society. She earned a master's degree in library science from the University of Chicago (1944) and was a librarian and head of the reference division at the Rockford Public Library for 26 years, retiring in 1970. She died at the Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center in Rockford, IL on August 17, 1992. She was 97.

Scope and Contents The Louise C. Johnson scrapbook is oblong, measuring 12 X 8 1/2. The College crest is imprinted on the cover and the book dated 1925. The first several pages cite the names and address of classmates, written by them to Johnson, including reflections and remarks. Notes, napkins, recital lists, drawings, room assignment cards, homecoming programs, articles. cartoons, graduation invitations and daily schedules are pasted within, comprising the bulk of the book.  Photographs portray campus...
