Biographical Statement

Adeline Hendricks of Elgin, IL, was born May 1, 1893 and graduated with a B.A. from Wheaton College in 1915, majoring in Elementary Education and Physics. She was a member of the Phils Literary Society. She graduated from the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing, Chicago, IL and did post-graduate work in nursing at the University of Minnesota and University of Wisconsin by extension. In 1943 she became the executive secretary of the Iowa State Association of Registered Nurses and for the State Nursing Council for War Service. She dedicated her career to nursing before retiring in 1952. She lived in Iowa and Minnesota, moving to Good Samaritan Homes, Paynesville, MN in 1973. She died in April 1982.

Scope and Contents The Adeline Hendricks (1915) scrapbook is embossed with the words, "The Girl Graduate, Her Own Book." The covers are leather-lined cardboard, faded, and measure 6 x 9 1/4. The first pages are dedicated to photos of familiar campus scenes and faculty. Six photos feature a boating trip. These images include marginal comments. Tucked within are standard scrap items: literary society invitations and programs, alumni banquet notices, recital and concert programs. A few of the light green pages...
