Biographical Statement

Margaret Poloma graduated from Notre Dame College of Ohio in 1965 and went on to receive her Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University in 1970. Now Professor Emerita, she taught at Akron University for 25 years, retiring in 1995. She has served as a visiting and adjunct professor since her retirement at various schools including Ashland Theological Seminary and Oberlin College. Her most recent publications include Main Street Mystics: The Toronto Blessing and Reviving Pentecostalism (2003) and The Politics of Protestant Preachers (1997). Dr. Poloma has served on the Steering Committee of the Christian Sociological Society since 1977.
