Biographical Statement

Alexandre Westphal was born in 1861. He served as a pastor and Professor Emeritus of Theology at the University of Toulouse.

Beginning in 1932, Westphal made a very important contribution of biblical theology with the publication of Dictionnaire Encyclopédique de la Bible. A second edition was published in 1957 after his death in 1951.
