Biographical Statement
Harry Verploegh was born in 1909 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Mr. Verploegh worked in fine typography for Chicago companies, including the Chicago Tribune and Montgomery Ward Co. He was also the president of Frederick Ryder Co., Advertising Typographers
Upon retirement, he took up publishing the works of evangelical Christian writers, particularly anthologies of quotes. He published more than 21 anthologies with over 100,000 anthology entries of famous Christian authors, such as Tozer, Chambers, Malcolm Muggeridge and Blaise Pascal. He was a close friend and confidant of Tozer for over 30 years while Tozer served as pastor of the Southside Alliance Church in Chicago (1928-1959). Verploegh died on March 27, 1999 and was married to Ruth, together they had two children, Virginia and Case.
