Biographical Statement

Nora Emily (Blanchard) Kellogg graduated from Wheaton College in 1872 with a B.A. She was the eleventh child of Wheaton College president, Jonathan Blanchard and his wife, Mary. She was also the sister of Charles Albert Blanchard, second president of Wheaton College. She was born on April 3, 1853 in Galesburg, IL and married Henry Lyman Kellogg in 1873. Her husband tragically died in a house fire in 1895 and left her widowed with 11 children. She died on December 4, 1940 and left a genealogy legacy including the Congdon and Dresser families.

Scope and Contents

The Nora Emily Kellogg diary is written within a booklet inscribed as "National Safe Deposit Company, First National Bank Building, Chicago." The black book measures 2 3/4 X 5 1/2. Within are printed maps of the U.S. and columns for financial transactions. Miss Kellogg uses the interior primarily for citing books read and class notes.
