Summary Note

Mae Landon had a strict upbringing. She was carefully taught how to dress, walk, and sit. She once walked by a family friend who was standing at a street corner, and who greeted her as she passed by. Mae wouldn't acknowledge him in any way, and when the man confronted her at church about the matter, she responded: "I was brought up never to speak to a man loitering on a corner." (Length 2:08)
