Biographical Files
Scope and Contents
This record group consists of individual biographical files that were created as student matriculated at Wheaton College and then served as a "central file" for general information as it was received and retained by the college. Upon the student's death files were transferred to the college's archive for permanent retention. Additional files, mainly those of faculty, were created by the archives or the public/media relations office to respond to inquiries by the public or news outlets. Files were also created by staff of the Archives & Special Collections as it collected information on individuals affiliated with Wheaton College in order to respond to reference inquiries.

Conditions Governing Access
Student files are closed until 25 years after the death of the subject, though general or publicly available information may be provided upon request. Permission to view confidential portions of a file may be granted upon request and approval.

Duplication may be restricted. Quotation from archival records requires permission of Wheaton College.
