Scope and Contents

This archive contains two series: Documents and Photographs. Within the Documents series is a progression from notes about the text and captions used to describe the pictures to final proofs of the book with the various stages in between. The Photographs series is organized by the corresponding section where the picture appears in the first edition of Images of His World. There are two folders of unpublished photos from this project. They are arranged in no particular order.

Abstract

This archive contains research notes, Lewis quotations, corrected typescripts, photographs, and other material related to the writing and publishing of the book C.S. Lewis: Images of His World by Douglas Gilbert and Clyde S. Kilby, published in 1973 by William B. Eerdmans Publishing Company. At the time of the publishing, Gilbert was an Assistant Professor of Art at Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL. Kilby was a Professor of English and the Curator of the Lewis Collection at Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL. The photographs included in this archive were all taken by Douglas Gilbert.
