William L. Knecht Papers

 Collection — Multiple Containers
Identifier: Wade-A-12 through A-13

Scope and Contents

This archive contains photocopied materials from Mr. William L. Knecht. Mr. Knecht was studying C.S. Lewis's view of apotheosis (literally the elevation of humans to divine status) and compiled a large amount of correspondence with authors, pastors, and national Christian leaders. Also included are two manuscripts, a first and second draft of his study.

The letters are quite detailed in Knecht's questions to these people and also in their answers. Numerous references are made to various writings of C.S. Lewis, ancient philosophers, theologians, and Biblical translation and interpretation.
