Raymond Hunt Papers

 Collection — Multiple Containers
Identifier: Wade-A-72 through 74

Scope and Contents

The Raymond Hunt Papers archive contains materials relating to the life and work of Charles Williams and is divided into six series: Correspondence, Notebooks, Notes, Publications, Unpublished Materials, and Notebook Inserts.

The Correspondence series consists of a single folder of letters between Hunt and others. A large amount of additional letters to and from Hunt is stored in the Charles Williams Papers at the Wade Center.

The Notebooks series contains 21 volumes of the extensive transcribed notes from Williams’s lectures (1932-1945), all by Raymond Hunt, as well as a notebook on G.K. Chesterton. The Notebook Inserts series includes all the loose inserts removed from the notebook volumes, noted by the volume from which they came and the page numbers where they were found. The Notes series continues the material written by Raymond Hunt on a variety of topics, but some may be transcriptions of compositions by Williams as well. Material intended for notebook 22 is in the Unpublished Materials series.

The Publications include article clippings, excerpts, and pamphlets, and a unique play program from Williams’s play The Myth of Shakespeare dramatized by high school students and complete with photographs of the performers. The Unpublished Materials series contains two typescripts by Hunt and materials intended for notebook 22.
