This archive contains a single folder of correspondence, mainly fan mail, relating to Dorothy L. Sayers’s BBC radio talk, “The New Cosmology.” The contents are arranged chronologically.
A letter from Val Gielgud dated December 13, 1957 was removed from this archive as it seemed to be inappropriately placed. A copy of the letter remains in folder 1.

Biographical or Historical Information
Sayers’s BBC radio talk “The New Cosmology” was given in response to statements made by astronomer Fred Hoyle, both on the BBC and in his book, The Nature of the Universe. The talk aired originally on September 26, 1950, and was later published under the title “The Theologian and the Scientist” in The Listener on November 9th of that same year.
The material in this archive was acquired at auction from Sotheby’s in London by the Wade Center in 2000. The original Sotheby’s lot included in this archive is: Lot 292, iii.
