Includes letter from Capt. J. Waller to Mr C. Williams, 17 White Lion Street, Pentonvile [sic] London, from HMS Snake, Malta, 14 July 1845, notifying him of death of his brother Richard, washed overboard in gale outside the Bay of Naples. Asks him to break news to their mother, along with an unmarked envelope, containing crown and anchor from naval uniform, stitched to card. Written on card: 'Richard Williams/drowned off Naples, Feb. 3. 1845.15pp.
