Ten home movies made by Herbert Downing and other family members showing scenes around Rift Valley Academy in Kijabe, where Downing was headmaster. RVA was part of the Africa Inland Mission station at Kijabe. Besides school activities, including classes and sports, the films show weddings, graduations, hunting trips, the Kijabe AIC church, baptisms, local scenery and wildlife, military reviews in Kijabe of the King's Kenya Rifles. Some of the films are captions (without the accompanying scenes) which were apparently meant to be spliced into a promotional film about AIM. Mostly in color, although some B/w. 1937-1942. Many films have material from the 1930s (in b/w) and materials from the 1950s and 50s (in color) spliced together. 1937-1953. (See attached inventory.) Language: English.
