Born in Tanzania to missionary parents but left as a child and did not return until 1950, first impressions of Africa; characteristics of African women, childbirth, people of French Cameroon, gender roles; Christian church in the Cameroon, training African pastors, care of physical and medical needs, Fulani language; preparation for missionary work with course in tropical medicine, obstetrics; husband Walter Trobisch had some dental training; common questions asked by Africans, difficulty in understanding Jesus' love and the Trinity; [Brief interruption] Husband taught college courses on love that brought Christ into marriage; understanding cultural beliefs, nationals resisted new healthier ideas about childbirth, disease treatment; typical church services, translation of Sunday school choruses into Fulani, building a church, establishing "preaching places"; churches destroyed in Muslim campaign against Christians a violation of country law and restitution was ordered; church services, preaching, favorite Scripture passages, weekly activities such as reading, child care, and nutrition classes, prayer meetings, devotions; personal time in home, food sources, market days; relations between missionaries and French government commander, start of industrial training school at mission; differences between people living in the west Africa savannah and those in the virgin forest of southern Cameroon, Cameroon Christian College in Libamba where forty tribes lived and worked together, Christian marriage; relationship between missionaries from different denominations, especially at the College, work with Roman Catholics on translation, Lutheran missions; Trobisch's five children; lessons learned from Africans, especially respect for life, family, elders; remembrance of Dawson Trotman and Navigator workers; Billy Graham in Africa, smallness of world, sameness of human hearts.
