Oral history interview with Gillian Gathoni Mwaura in which she discussed her family background in Kenya, her conversion in high school, her education at the Co-Operative College of Kenya and Methodist University; work as a student and as a full-time employee with the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students-affiliated ministry FOCUS (Fellowsh ip of Christian Unions) in Kenya and Uganda, cross-cultural training and mission work in Norway; helping to form Global Link Afrika, a Ugandan ministry that is training and sending indigenous missionaries; impressions of the Wheaton Graduate School. The time period covered by the interviews is 1979 to 2019.

2007-2008 - Kenya Methodist University in Meru, Kenya; earned Bachelors in Business Administration

Career

2005-2006 - Working as a worker for FOCUS Kenya at Moi University in Eldoret, Kenya

2006-2007 - Working as a FOCUS worker in Norway

2009-2012 - Staff member of the Fellowship of Christian Union, first with Focus Kenya, then with Focus Uganda. Helped to organize conference and recruit students for missions. Spent one year in Norway.

2012-2021 - Director of programs for Global Link Afrika. Recruited and sent Ugandan missionaries in Uganda and Kenya

Other significant information

2015 - Spoke at Intervarsity’s triannual student missions conference in Urbana, Illinois.
