Scope and Contents

This collection consists of 17,716 sheets of microfiche containing minutes, reports, candidates' papers, graphics, and correspondence with missionaries in Europe, Russia, the Americas, West Indies, Australia, the South Seas, Africa, China, India, and other areas. Also included are journals of missionaries, correspondence of David Livingstone, and material about a mission to Jewish people in London. The microfiche was filmed from originals in the Library of the School of Oriental and African Studies in London.

Direct and precise access to the material is provided by thirty detailed microfiche inventories, which relate topics to microfiche numbers. Historical Information

Interdenominational mission agency; formed in 1795; merged with the Commonwealth Missionary Society in 1963 to form the Congregational Council for World Mission, which changed its name to Council for World Mission in 1973.
