Summary Note
Margaret tells of the Landons' first Christmas in Thailand. It was Peggy's first Christmas, and presents came from the U.S. Even though Adelle and the girls had very little money, they always found ways of sending gifts. She tells of the customs and how the Siamese adopted foreign things they liked and reject those they did not like. She recalls Christmas celebration and the differences in culture and the many simply, yet lovely things they enjoyed, especially from home. Margaret describes also the house they lived in and how she received guests at Christmas, and the ants that literally covered the Christmas tree and the presents. The Landons were careful about the ants in the house because there were so many of them, so much so that they called their home the "bug house." Kenneth tells about a solid phalanx of ants that would always walk through the house no matter what the Landons did. (Length 20:43)
