Summary Note

Kenneth and Margaret tell of the beginning of Margaret's writing of Anna. The family was living in a rented house in Richmond, Ind., and Kenneth had started teaching at Earlham College. Margaret had a maid that worked for a few months, so that she could get started with the book. When the family moved to Washington, D.C. in 1942, she was well into her writing. The year before was hard on her, with Kenneth gone most of the time. (Length 17:03)
