This extensive hymnal collection serves as an historical collection of Anglo-American, Protestant hymnals, ranging in date from the 1790s to the present and provides examples of hymns of praise, exhortation, description, and meditation. Chronologically, the collection contains items representing nearly every year of the nineteenth to the mid-twentieth centuries with peaks in the 1900s and 1920s. Nearly 400 volumes are undated. Additionally, this collection exhibits titles from many different denominations and independent church movements.

The hymnals range in date from the 1790s to the late 1980s and provide wonderful examples of hymns of praise, exhortation, description, and meditation. Additionally, this collection exhibits titles from many different denominations and independent movements. This collection serves as an historical collection of American hymnody.

Chronologically, the collection has items to represent nearly every year from the nineteenth to the mid-twentieth centuries with peaks in the 1880s, 1900s and 1920s. Also, nearly 400 volumes are undated.
