Vachel Lindsay Collection
Scope and Contents
The Vachel Lindsay collection is organized into seven series: Biographical, Publications (with Books, Article and Poetry sub-series), Correspondence, Manuscript Material (with Poems sub-series), Lectures, Secondary, and Photographs. The bulk of the collection is located in the published and manuscript poetry series. Several clippings in Secondary also highlight Lindsay's activities. Many items carry inscriptions from Lindsay to Sarah K. Smith, a friend and fellow School of the Art Institute student. Early editions of Lindsay's published volumes also contain inscriptions to Smith. Several pieces of correspondence between Lindsay and Smith are also found in the collection. The collection also contains several over-sized drawings of Lindsay's.
