Scope and Contents
The DeEtte Barnes Special Collection consists of correspondence and biographical content. The bulk of the correspondence in the collection is letters written from DeEtte in her Wheaton College student days to her mother and family at home. Also included are letters from her mother, Mrs. Stewart [Rena] Barnes, to her and letters from other family members. The biographical content includes DeEttes's grade reports, her daily schedule, and other Wheaton College memorabilia from the 1930s including an invitation to an "Informal" of the Philalathean Literary Society.

Other Descriptive Information
This collection is composed mostly of the letters of a Wheaton College student, DeEtte Barnes, to her mother. The letters were written from 1933-37, the years Barnes attended Wheaton College and are of particular interest due to their genuine and frank portrayal of 1930s student life. Today's students and former students alike will be fascinated by the similarities and differences between Barnes' experience and their own.
