The John L. Smith Collection contains the papers which document his mission work with the Mormons through Utah Missions, Inc., and the Utah Evangel Newspaper. Little information is included regarding his work as a Baptist minister. The papers are arranged into series of correspondence, manuscripts, pamphlets, and publications. The John L. Smith Collection includes both pro and contra-Mormon works.

The papers of John L. Smith (1920-2009), Baptist minister, founder of Utah Missions, and author were given to the Special Collections of Wheaton College. They occupy nearly ten linear feet of space.

The John L. Smith Collection is open to the public and dedicated to them, as are the literary rights of the accompanying papers. Single photocopies of some of the unpublished writings may be made for purposes of scholarly research.
