Biographical Statement

Lucille Swanson Peterson (born circa 1909) graduated with a B.A. in Literature in 1931. Nicknamed "Swannee," her scrapbooks contain items detailing aspects of her cross-country travels accompanying various class groups, in addition to visiting famous Chicago locales such as the Art Institute. She served as president of the Boethallian Literary Society. The Rudolph and Lucille Swanson Peterson Memorial Scholarship exists to assist worthy students.

Scope and Contents The Lucille Swanson scrapbook is black, its hinges bound with a white leather strip. It measures 16 1/2 x 12 1/2, and features the Wheaton College crest embossed on its cover. The first pages are inscribed with names and addresses of classmates. The next section features black and white photos of students and campus scenes, with a few images showing trips to Washington, DC, Los Angeles, and a Senior Sneak to Turkey Run State Park, Indiana.
