Three oral history interviews with Samuel Boateng in which he describes his family and growing up in an impoverished part of Accra, Ghana; journey to faith as a Christian; personal witness and devotional practices; starting a youth group in his Pentecostal church; education in Ghana, South Africa, United Kingdom, and the United States; leadership in Ghana Fellowship of Evangelical Students at the University of Cape Coast; church planting ministry, influential mentors including Gottfried and Audrey Osei-Mensah and Femi Adeleye; chaplaincy at University of Cape Coast; working as trainer and administrator for Relite program to reach and train university students; pastoral ministry program at George Whitefield College in South Africa; serving as youth pastor in Accra, characteristics of the Ghanaian church; impact of the prosperity gospel; Pentecostalism in Ghana; Franklin Graham’s Ghana Jesus Festival in 2012; partnership with expatriate missionaries in Ghana; role of women in the Ghanaian church; government’s relationship with churches and religious groups; churches’ involvement in missions; and education at Wheaton College Graduate School through a Billy Graham Center Scholarship. Siblings: Sam is fifth of his father’s eleven children, the third of his mother’s six children

Conversion: Age 16, first of family’s eight children to become a Christian in late-1994 at a Jesus of Nazareth film showing in Accra

2004: BEd in Science Education from University of Cape Coast, Cape Coast, Ghana
2006: Expository preaching training with Proclamation Trust in London
2011: BTh in Pastoral Ministries from George Whitefield College, Cape Town, South Africa
