May Harshbarger Scrapbook
The May Harshbarger material comprises a single composition book, containing handwritten essays and exercises. Her prose is marked with occasional marginal corrections. Tucked into the front are three "Rolls of Honor" and a "Certificate of Examination" from St. Mary's School of Knoxville, IL. These documents date from 1877, '78 and '79. The book is faded black, 7 x 8.

The Marjorie E. Smith ('48) scrapbook is a embossed black photo album measuring 10 x 7. There is an introductory letter from Smith dated 1999 describing the album's contents of annotated photos from her trip to the Black Hills, South Dakota in Summer 1947. Highlights include: Field Anthropology class with Dr. Mixter; bird watching photos; outdoor commencement with Dr. Edman.

W. Lloyd Fesmire Scrapbook
The Lloyd Fesmire scrapbook is spiral bound, with an orange cover sporting a cartoon rodeo cowboy. It is titled with the words, "Senior Sneak '42," which was held at Jack & Jill Ranch in Montague, MI. The interior contains photos of the trip, showing the lake, cabins, bonfires and various group activities, including a talent show. Some pages are blank, and there is no written description to accompany the images. The book measures 5 x 7.
Esther Young Depue Scrapbook
The Esther Young Depue scrapbook is green, measuring 9 1/4 x 13, tied with a string. Several loose pamphlets are tucked into the front, with items such as a 1940 banquet invitation, homecoming highlights and literary society invitations, in addition to several Wheaton College Bulletins from 1940-42. The latter pages of the scrapbook are blank. The pages are yellowed and crumbling.
Harriet Crawford Hone Scrapbook
The Harriet Crawford Hone ('44) scrapbook is green, measuring 10 1/4 x 14. The first page features paste-in photos of Blanchard Hall and V. Raymond Edman (whose 1941 inauguration program is attached later in the book). Following are photos and items from her freshman year, 1940-41. Most of the images are identified with the names of the participants. Included are invitations, holiday greeting cards, recital and play programs, and commencement exercises.
David Aaronson Scrapbook
The David Aaronson scrapbook contains postcards and photographs detailing a 1947 Chapel Choir tour. A 13-page typewritten, stapled booklet with construction paper covers is loosely included, describing various aspects of his road trip. Stops included Akron, OH, Detroit, MI, South Bend, IN, Paris, TN, and several other cities. Photographs display churches and scenic stops, with a few images showing the Wheaton College campus. The scrapbook is black, measuring 10 X 11 1/2.
Lois Stratton Scrapbook
The Lois Stratton (1909) scrapbook is black and oblong, measuring 11 x 7. The contents are loose from the binding. A sheet tucked into the front describes its contents: invitations, play programs, name tags, literary society menus, student handbooks, pressed flowers and commencement exercises. Photos include faded images of gathered students, in buildings and outdoors. Stratton's diploma is pasted in the back, indicating her graduation from the Wheaton College School of Music.

The Adrienne Jones scrapbook is blue, embossed with a large gold "W" on the cover, and measures 16 x 12 1/4. Tucked into the front are loose photos of Charles Blanchard and his wife. The introductory pages are columns for the citing of names, addresses and comments of classmates. Further photos display family, friends and college faculty. Included are social event invitations and notices. Other photos show the Field Museum and scenes from various travels, such as Washington, DC.

John Stoll Scrapbook
The John Stoll box holds two slim folders. The first contains photos of the track and field team, with a red 1944 Second Place ribbon. Also included is an unused postcard depicting Notre Dame University, homecoming programs, and articles about champion marathon runner Gil Dodds. The second folder contains a War Ration Book, frosh rules, a 1945 Washington Banquet program and two Wheaton College Bulletins, dated Feb 1945 and Sept. 1942.
Nellie Straw Scrapbook
The Nellie Straw (1904) scrapbook is composed of stiff black construction paper, now completely dis-attached from its binding. The "scraps" are glued directly onto the cover, and filling every page for the remainder of the book. Items include holiday cards, poems, notes to friends, invitations to recitals and literary society functions, drawings. In addition are various Wheaton College publications, such as financial reports, rulebooks and commencement programs. It measures 14 x 11.

The Ruth Mellis material is contained in a 7 X 11 photo album. The first section is occupied with photos of Wheaton College campus and persons. Interspersed throughout are paste-ins of invitations to campus social events such as Student Volunteers, banquets, Annual Spring Concert, Recital and Homecoming. Tucked into the back are newspaper clippings, commencement programs and jacket patches.

This archive contains materials from the Chesterton collection of John J. Sullivan, and other personal interests of his. Included is a large variety of newspaper clippings, correspondence, book catalogs, Chesterton-related events materials, and secondary critical work on Chesterton by Sullivan and others, both published and unpublished. Many materials were removed from this archive and incorporated into the Wade Center's Chesterton holdings.
Martha Dunham Scrapbook
The Martha Dunham scrapbook measures 10 1/4 x 14. It is black and tied with a string, spanning the years 1938-9. Tucked into the front are two notebook sheets with handwritten notes, briefly explaining the contents of the scrapbook. Included are campus event invitations, holiday cards, pressed flowers, invoices and campus publications such as the Bulletin and the Record. The pages are numbered to 51, although the total page count exceeds that figure.
